How We Develop a Character
Step 1: We start with a brief. We ask about the personality you want, your audience and where the character will appear, from packaging to stadium screens.
Step 2: We sketch the rough directions set in your quote. At this stage we test shape and attitude, not detail.
Step 3: You pick a direction, and we refine it into finished color art.
Step 4: We build a character sheet. It shows front, side and back views, a range of expressions and poses, color values, and rules on what the character should never do.
Step 5: If you plan to animate the character, we prepare layered files for motion. Our animation service can take it from there.
Rights, Originality and AI
You may use a mascot for decades, so the rights need to be clear. Once the project is paid, the final artwork and its files are yours.
The US Copyright Office has said that material generated by AI without human authorship is not protected by copyright. For that reason, we agree with you in writing whether any AI tools are used before work starts.
We also check that your character does not closely resemble a well-known existing one. A mascot can often be registered as a trademark. Your attorney should handle the search and filing.

We design in 2D and prepare files that 3D artists and animators can build from. Animation itself runs through our animation service.
We do not make costumes, but we prepare the turnaround views and color specs that costume makers ask for. We can also review their drawings before they build.
Vector files in AI, EPS, SVG and PDF, plus PNG files with transparent backgrounds. Character sheets come as PDFs, and icon sets come as individual SVGs.
